Calgary is not only the most livable city in Canada, but also the most livable city in North America! According to a recent publication by the Economic Intelligence Unit, Calgary is ranked third in the globe!
Stability
Calgary received a total of 95 points on the stability ranking, tying us with Toronto and putting us 5 points ahead of Vancouver. Guess the Stanley Cup riot is still hitting the city; perhaps the EIU is waiting for the Canucks to be good again to see if the city has changed? Go, Flames!

Overall, Calgary is a relatively safe city; however, political leadership must continue to foster a strong relationship between the police force and the community. We frequently hear from residents who wish there was more proactive policing and enforcement to combat petty crime, as this is what affects the majority of people. (Car prowling, vandalism, and so on)

Calgary received an overall score of 90 in Culture, compared to Toronto (95.4) and Vancouver (95.4). (100) Calgary was ranked second lowest in the cultural category overall, trailing only Osaka, Japan.
Humidity/temperature -Let's be honest, when culture measures weather and "climate discomfort for travellers," I think we all know Calgary is going to take a hit. Sure, visitors from all over the world come to enjoy the city as a gateway to the mountains and wonderful outdoors, but on those few'ish days when it's -40 in January and dark at 4:30, we can all understand how someone could not really appreciate our city.
- Climate discomfort for travellers
- Corruption level
- Social or religious constraints
- Censorship level
Sporting availability - We could absolutely use an NFL, NBA, or MLB franchise, but what about MLS? A brand-new stadium? SOMETHING!
Cultural availability - Ranchman's reopening must have been what pushed us into the 1990s.
Food and beverages - I'm guessing they had Peter's...
Goods and services for consumers

The standard of public transportation
- International link quality
- Good-quality housing is available - Thanks to Streetside Developments, one of our favourite house builders, for raising the bar!
- The standard of energy supply
- Provision of high-quality water
Telecommunications quality - they can't get everything perfect.:| Perhaps they are simply unaware of the (far from magical) telecom price matching that the main corporations do... so brilliantly.
